BLINK 2024: Mural & Video Projection

October 2024

The 2024 Coming of Age Mural Series, created in collaboration with BLINK, transforms a three-block stretch of Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine into an open-air gallery. Spanning from 1714 Vine Street southward, the series reimagines the urban landscape through large-scale murals inspired by Gee Horton’s Coming of Age drawing series. This project weaves a visual narrative that reflects themes of growth, identity, and transformation, offering the local community a space for reflection and meaningful conversation.

Court Street Plaza: Coming of Age Mural

September 2021

This mural marks Gee Horton’s first foray into large-scale public art, drawing inspiration from his pivotal work, Me Against the World, a piece from his Coming of Age series, which debuted at the Weston Art Gallery in November 2021. Situated on the east end of Court Street Plaza, along Walnut Street, just outside the Kroger entrance, the mural serves as a continuation of Horton’s exploration of identity, resilience, and the nuanced journey of self-discovery. Through this expansion from intimate drawing to monumental scale, the work invites the public into a deeply personal yet universally resonant narrative.
